  2. SPELLING TUTORIAL AND TEST                  Progam # 1

  6. In each of the following exercises you will be given a sentence
  7. and asked to decide whether there is a misspelled word or
  8. whether the sentence is correct.  If there is a misspelled word,
  9. type its correct spelling + {ENTER}; if the sentence is correct;
  10. just type {ENTER}.  If the sentence does have an error and your
  11. first answer is wrong, the sentence will be repeated with the
  12. location of the misspelling <high>lighted.  If you make an error
  13. as you are typing in an answer, use the backspace key ({}) to
  14. erase the previous letter, or the {Esc} key to erase the whole
  15. word.

  17. {BE SURE CAPS LOCK KEY IS OFF}--case of input letters is important.

  20. You may choose one of three modes in running this program:
  21.  
  22.   * In the {TUTORIAL} mode, each set of questions is preceded by
  23.   an explanatory section that briefly outlines the rules
  24.   governing the spelling questions in that set.  Following these
  25.   rules and one or more examples, you will be asked the
  26.   questions in that set.  You will be able to review the current
  27.   rule as you go along.

  29.   * In the {TEST} mode, you will not be shown any explanations. 
  30.   Instead, you will just be given questions drawn randomly from
  31.   the various tutorial sections.  Your score will appear at the
  32.   conclusion of the test.

  34.   * The {EXTRA TEST} is a series of questions not in the tutorial.
  35.   Otherwise it is just like the {TEST} mode.

  41. Unless you are confident in your knowledge of the spelling
  42. rules, a good way of proceeding with the program would be to try
  43. the Tutorial mode once, and then repeat with the test modes to
  44. confirm your knowledge.
